
The Jefferson County Public Law Library has a powerful collection of print and online resources available to members and visitors. While it is centered on the law of Kentucky and Indiana, the vast majority of federal resources a lawyer would need are included. In addition to statutes, regulations and case law, leading state and federal treatises are available. The library has WiFi and public-use computers for legal research.

- The Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS), the U.S.C.A., and Burn’s Indiana Statutes Annotated.
- Kentucky Attorney General Opinions (OAG) and Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR).
- Kentucky, Indiana, federal, and regional case reporters (including the West’s Bankruptcy Reporter).
- Kentucky Digest, Kentucky Digest 2d, Indiana Digest, and the General/Decennial Digests.
- The Restatements and Uniform Laws Annotated
- Kentucky historical collection: Historical statutes, acts, state constitutional titles, older reporters like Kentucky Reports, and other materials, including Louisville and Jefferson County ordinances.

- Westlaw & Lexis
- There is a Westlaw terminal that members can use free of charge. (Nonmembers are charged $5 for 30 minutes). Printing is 20 cents per page, but users can email to themselves at no charge. The JCPLL’s Westlaw subscription is pretty extensive. It includes all states and fed case law and many well-known secondary sources. There is also limited access to Lexis but users can it it Shepardize; check with the law library staff.

- Office of the Jefferson Circuit Court Clerk The Jefferson County Office of the Circuit Court Clerk (OCCC) serves as the custodian of all court records of District, Circuit and Family courts, as well as the repository of fees, fines and court costs in the county. In addition to these primary responsibilities to the court, the OCCC also issues Kentucky driver’s licenses and identification cards in partnership with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Kentucky State Police.
